Nick Halley will appear in the Scotia Festival of Music’s Highlight Concert #8 as one of two “reciters” narrating William Walton’s Façade, performed with an ensemble of instrumentalists. With Façade, Walton (at the age of only 20 years old!) captured the spirit of the 1920s, setting to music the riotously funny surrealist poems by the ultra-eccentric Edith Sitwell. (You can read about this musico-poetic work here). The first half of this concert will celebrate the depth of woodwind talent in Nova Scotia, with two sparkling works by virtuosos, Doppler and Poulenc. Click here for details and tickets.
The concert begins at 7:30 pm on Tues., June 6 at Joseph Strung Concert Hall, Dalhousie Arts Centre, Halifax.
